Unemployment and reserving a business name in New York State

Asked by: Celia  — 23 December, 2012

If I reserve a name of a business in New York State would that preclude unemployment benefits in New York State as I am employed at a company at present

Dear Celia,

I am not an authority on unemployment benefits, however if what you mean by reserving a company name is simply filing a “company name reservation” request with New York Division of Corporaitons, then all you get is the right to use the reserved name for 60 days for new company registration.
